As part of the Canadin Federation of Students and Make Poverty History–Manitoba Target Poverty campaign for a poverty-free Manitoba, representatives participated in a round table discussion organised by Members of Parliament Ken Dryden and Anita Neville, to address the growing issue of poverty in Manitoba and Canada.

NDP Leadership candidate Steve Ashton endorses Target Poverty campaign

NDP Leadership Candidate and Thompson MLA, Steve Ashton met with the Canadian Federation of Students on October 1, 2009 and endorsed the Target Poverty campaign by signing a postcard calling on the government of Manitoba to implement a plan for a Poverty-Free Manitoba that includes targets and timelines, and is adequately financed, in order to meet the goal of reducing poverty in Manitoba by at least 25% by the year 2015.
